«Alle estremità delle aste sarà impossibile il moto circolare intorno all'estremità opposta, alla quale sarà congiunta la corda rettilinea: la quale si è collegata con l'estremo opposto, sotto il centro della predetta circonferenza…»
(At the ends of the rods circular motion will be impossible around the opposite end, to which a straight cord is joined; this is connected to the opposite end, under the centre of the aforementioned circumference.)
